If a payment fails it is usually because the bank has
a problem with the transaction. The bank will send back
a brief message and a two-digit response code indicating
the nature of the problem. Some of the more common Error codes
are explained below.
Code 54: Expired card
This error is generated if the current date exceeds the expiry date of your card.
Code 14: Invalid card number
Your debit card number is invalid, or is unrecognised.
51 - Not sufficient funds
Generated if the account attached to a card has insufficient
funds to cover the requested amount.
Code 77: Intervene, bank approval
required
This response indicates that the amount to be authorised
has exceeded a bank-specified limit, which has nothing
to do with the debit card in question. It is a security
measure intended to prevent large amounts being processed
without additional bank authorisation.
The response is specifically intended for cashier-operated
points-of-sale, where the cashier is expected to phone
the bank for approval. Obviously such a procedure is
not applicable on the Internet. The block can be circumvented
by breaking the transaction into smaller amounts, although
such a solution is not very convenient.
Codes 68, 91 and 96:
These codes all indicate a system malfunction involving
communication with the bank. Should such a problem arise,
kindly inform EazyPay of the occurrence.
